Raoul Collenteur (Dr.) is a hydrologist focused on solving groundwater-related problems. After obtaining his Masters degree in water management at the TU Delft (The Netherlands), he worked several years as a hydrological consultant at Artesia Water in the Netherlands. During this time the development of Pastas, an open-source Python package now used worldwide to analysis groundwater data, started in collaboration with Prof. Bakker (TU Delft). After a few years in the private sector, he returned to academia to pursue a PhD degree in Hydrogeology at the University of Graz (Austria). In his doctoral thesis, Raoul continued to develop Pastas, focusing on new methods for nonlinear recharge estimation. During his time in Graz, Raoul acted as an expert consultant on time series analysis of groundwater levels, for example as a co-author of the Handbook on time series analysis of groundwater level data (In Dutch). Since 2022 Raoul works as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Swiss federal water research institute Eawag (80% employment). Here he researches the possibilities to forecast groundwater levels in Switzerland. Since 2024, Raoul started Collenteur HydroConsult to provide his services and expertise as a part-time consultant.
